Within the realms of industrial and commercial insulation are two additional major areas of insulation application, which are Mechanical Insulation and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).  Mechanical insulation is thermal insulation used in industrial and plant settings. Application of insulation to pipework, processing equipment, tanks, flue ducts, boilers, filters, and other apparatuses, is to improve equipment performance, productivity, and durability.  Additionally, the qualities of greater weather, fire, and temperature resistance add bonus characteristics to insulation installation. HVAC insulation is applied to ductwork, refrigerant lines, condensate lines, grease duct, chillers, and boilers.
